Summer Cruisin’

Ok, so I have loved this fabric since the first time I saw it!  Then I saw it again.  And then again.  And again.  And finally I knew what I wanted to do.

I bought it.  It called to me.  It said, “I would look adorable riding a bike through a small town, walking along the beach, on the deck of a cruise ship, or through Disneyland/World as the family has a blast!”

Then something else happened. It’s a little freaky but when creative juices flow, there’s no stopping them.   I created my own design.  I am SURE someone else has done this.  In the history of mankind, this skirt HAS existed- possibly even with the bound scallops.  BUT, I’ve never seen one.  Ever.  So it’s mine and I’m naming this style, “Alexa” after one of my favorite characters.  She’s an eccentric author with a style all her own.  Don’t you think this fits her?

Drawstring waist helps for a perfect fit!

Isn’t it the epitome of fun?  I loved it so much I’ve already gone back and purchased enough fabric to make ME one.  It won’t look as cute on me as it does on Kaylene but it WILL be fun to wear.  (Note to self:  ensure two huge flowers aren’t strategically positioned on posterior.)

The Specs

Length- 24″

Waist-  34.5′

Hips- 48″

Sized as a ladies 4-8 or so.  Kaylene is wearing this on her hips about 3″ below her waist.  (She’s incredibly short waisted like her mom.  1″ between hips and ribs”

Remember that you need to be able to get it over your hips.  Usually you can easily put on something a couple of inches too small to WEAR on your hips over your hips but I had to warn you.   I’m thinking about a zipper next time.  For fun.  What does everyone think?

Machine wash cool, hang dry, steam iron as desired.

$32.00   (don’t forget, post paid!)

Not-So- RETRO!

This makes me think of “country” in the ’40’s.  You know… hanging crisp white sheets on the line, an apron over your clothes, and listening to the radio shows at the end of a hard day.  We’re just coming out of the Depression and your eldest son or little brother is off to get “Der Fuhrer” and teach him some manners!

(Forgive the pictures, it REFUSED to cooperate!)

The Specs:

Length- 31″

Waist- 25.5 UNSTRETCHED   (Max stretch is 39″… not comfortably)

Designed for approximately a size 4-6 depending on hips.    Elasticized waist means that I can easily take it in a smidge if you like.   I didn’t list the hip measurements because it’s full in the hips without being highly gathered.  There is approximately 54″ of fabric there.

Machine wash cool, tumble dry, steam iron for that crisp sharp look of the ’40’s.  Enjoy!

I’m off to pout.  Again, I don’t think I saved enough for ME.  Sniff.

Sensing Spring~ SOLD

Here’s the green one!  Can’t you just see it with a fun top!  Oh boy I’m going to make me one.  This one is just a little snugger on my hips than I like ‘em so my loss and all that jazz.  Polka dotted grosgrain ribbon adds a smidge of fun to it don’t you think?  Drawstring waist makes it fit YOU.

The Specs-

Length- 24.5″

Waist- 49″  (un-”drawn”)

Hips- 51″

Designed as a size 18W  (Guess that makes me a 20W on the bottom.  DRAT!)

Flutter-bye Days~

I fell in love with this fabric (have it in green too… almost done) and had to have fun.  So, this one was my first style.  Simple with a bit of funky trim.  I can see this for picnics, trips to the zoo, afternoons at the museum, and of course, shopping for the perfect coordinating top!

The Specs

Waist- 37″

Hips- 44″

Length- 23.5″

It would best fit body measurements of…

Waist- 36″ ( can go much smaller with the drawstring but not much larger)

Hips- 41″ (or so)

These measurements are approximately a size 14 or 16 in ladies.

Care:  Machine wash cold.  Hang dry.  Warm-hot iron as needed.  This fabric is designed for warm water and tumble drying but I’ve found it retains its color and body if washed in cold and hung dry.  Ironing, however, doesn’t seem to bother it at all.  :)

Caribbean Blues Two~

This is the last of my beloved plaid.  Sniff.  I’ll miss it.    I’d give anything for just one more jumper ou of it…  just one…  Sniff.

Ok, onto the good stuff!

This little skirt is just loades with fun detail!  The buttons are YELLOW and match the rick-rack at the bottom of the skirt.  My camera thought it’d be fun to keep you guessing about my abilities to match colors but I assure you, they do match!    Elastic on the sides ensure a good fit.

Specs-

Length- 19.5″

Waist- 23″ unstretched  (Stretches to 26″ easily)

Designed for approximately girls size 6-8 years

Spring Swing!

Oh this one is simple but fun.   A cute little top and it’s ready to go!  Yarn dyed homespun plaids in springy colors combine with a bit of cluny-styled lace!   I made this as an instruction on how to do this kind of skirt but I wanted to play with wider wedges… and then realized that some people don’t know how to visualize things differently than they are so I’ll be making another one in the original size wedges in order to stick with the program.  Gulp.  Oh well, this is cute and fun and perfect for girls who love to twirl!

Specs

Length- 25″

Waist- 23″ unstretched  (stretches comfortably to 26-27″)

Hips- Somewhere between 36 and 48″ or so.

Girl’s approximate size 8-12… just depends on her waist and how long you like ‘em!

Tropical Splash- Take Two~ SOLD

Oh I like this!  I had a blast with this one.  It has everything in it that I wanted for the first one.  The Euro colors, the fun print, and all accented with embroidered ribbon!

Specs

Length- 24.5″

Waist- 26″ unstretched.

Hips- 38-40″ comfortably

I’d say that this would easily fit a girls size 14-16 up to a ladies 6-8 depending on waist size and length preferences.

Tropical Splash- Take One~

Ok, this is step one.  I like the idea of the skirt but it in’t versatile enough for me so I’m offering this at below cost!    All the fun of summer in one simple little skirt.  It features cosmetic pockets (they’re real but they wouldn’t hold much!), a front pleat, elastic in back, and tiny kick slits in the sides.   Primrose colored rick-rack accents the pockets and hemline for a cute little retro feel.

Keep watch for the sister skirt… I’m going to go for take two tonight!

This skirt is perfect for string beans.  If your little girl is nice and slim, it’s perfect.  If she’s average or a little on the chubby side, I’d say wait for the next one.

The Specs

The Garment Measurements are:

Waist- 22″   (stretches comfortably to 25″)

Hips-  up to 31″ or so

Length- 19″  (Covers Andra’s knees barely and she’s a petite 10)

Approximately sized from 6-8 years.

Machine wash hang dry or air fluff.  (If it was mine I’d tumble dry that sucker but technically I should say hang dry or air fluff due to the way some machines try to destroy perfectly normal clothes.)  Warm iron if necessary.  (I ironed this one on the “nearing Hades” setting and it didn’t mind at all.  See… takes a heating and keeps on… on… nevermind.)

Chic de Vintage`~ SOLD

Because little girls shouldn’t have all the fun!

Something about this fabric makes me think of all that yummy Rachel Ashwell “Shabby Chic” stuff.  For the daily fun, we have pink, green, and ivory stripes.  A patchwork border is accented with ivory trim and gives it a touch of casualness.

Floral ticking stripe.  Two layers.  Each layer is trimmed delicately with a gorgeous crocheted trim.  It flows so prettily.  I love how it hangs.  I should have made it my size.  Alas I didn’t.  My loss, your gain.  All that jazz.

Completely REVERSIBLE!  How fun and easy is that!

The Specs

The Garment Measurements are:

Waist- 28″   (Unstretched  40″)

Hips-  up to 48″ or so

Length- 27.5″  (Comes to almost mid calf on me at 5′3″)

Approximately sized from 8-12.  (I can easily adjust elastic for smaller sizes.  I have very little “gathering” of the elastic)

*~Vintage Chic~* SOLD

Ever wonder how little girls manage to twirl as much as they do?  It seems as though they never get dizzy.  This’ll be further twirling temptation but hey, they’re only young once!  I’d planned to put a ruffle at the bottom but I decided on this tiny crocheted trim.

Three vintage textile inspired fabrics combine into one deliciously chic skirt.  Vintage Chic is born!

Waist- 22″ (unstretched- can be adjusted easily.)
